Join us for Heartwood Healing Centre’s second annual education and awareness conference to recognize World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence, as declared by the United Nations.
Heartwood Healing Centre facilitates the healing journey of people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and increases society’s understanding of this form of trauma. We do this by providing therapeutic services, strengthening support systems, exchanging knowledge, and raising awareness.
This conference is for service providers, therapists, non-profit direct support workers, and students (social work, psychology, human rights).
Morning: Research panel on a Two-Eyed Seeing approach to healing from childhood sexual abuse; and learning about the experiences of those who work with Survivors while having lived experience themselves.
Afternoon: Attendees will have the opportunity to select workshops highlighting Heartwood’s internal knowledge. Workshops include:
1. Grounding with the Body: In-Session Skills
2. Internal Family Systems: Parts Work in Practice
3. Colonization and Childhood Sexual Abuse
4. Lived Experience Panel
5. Uncolonizing Therapy
6. ACT: An introduction to living a meaningful life
